Review: Erica Brooke Skincare

Erica Brooke is an Australian Skincare company that I have had my eye on for a long time now, it seems, but I only recently got to try it out. I was lucky enough to be sent quite a few goodies from Erica Brooke to try out and review for you guys, and I have my thoughts below. Be warned, it is quite a lengthy review, so go grab a cuppa and continue down below when you are ready ;)

Erica Brooke started back in 2006 when Erica created a homemade hand scrub to heal her dry and damaged barista hands. Her DIY creation worked incredibly well, and that scrub turned into a lifelong passion for all things natural and organic regarding skincare.
These beautiful words from Erica resonate with me, and I'm sure they will with you too.

"I believe that beautiful and truly natural skin care should not contain things like, parabens, sls, slse, propylene glycol,  phthalates, fragrance, harsh alcohols or GMO's. I believe in keeping packaging to a minimum and that recycling is a must. Unrefined and organic ingredients are best and will always be used when available. Being open and honest to our amazing customers. Multi use products are the best kind of products. I believe in treating the ingredients with respect and getting the most out of them."

I have loved the chance to try out Erica Brooke's products, and you can find my full review on each below.

Honey Cream Cleanser

I have been loving cream cleansers lately as I find them super suited to my dry skin, and find them much easier to use than oil cleansers, as they rinse right off. The Honey Cream Cleanser contains so many lush ingredients for skin, including two faves of mine; Manuka Honey and Colloidal Silver. Both are highly antibacterial ingredients that help treat blemished and irritated skin. It also contains Golden Seal extract and Frankincense to offer protection from free radicals with their antiseptic and anti ageing properties.

Full Ingredients: Purified Water, Camellia oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) oil *, Cetearyl Olivate, Honey*, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil*, Sorbitan Olivate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil,Manuka Honey MGO 514+, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)* , Colloidal Silver, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Vegetable Glycerine*, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Portulaca Oleracea (Portulaca) Extract, Glyceryl Caprylate, Diheptyl Succinate , Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Golden Seal Root Powder, P-Anisic Acid, Essential Oils of: Frankincense & Petitgrain. *Denotes organic

I find this cleanser to rinse almost completely off with water. Any remnants are removed with the face washer I dry my skin with. I can feel how deeply this cleanser works to clean out my pores, and it helps loosen clogs within my skin. My skin feels so nourished and clean after using this cleanser, and it doesn't dry it out. This is also a multi-tasker. Erica Brooke recommend adding some of this into their face mask, which I have done, and I have to say it takes it to the next level!

Shine Bright Face Exfoliant

This exfoliant is designed not only for the face, but also the neck, chest and upper arms. It is designed for normal, oily, dry and combination skin types. It contains similar ingredients to the Honey Cream Cleanser including camellia, coconut, honey, marula, colloidal silver, meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter. It is great at removing dead skin cells and preventing keratosis pilaris (bumpy skin on the arms) with ingredients such as jojoba beads, vanilla powder and argan shell powder. This exfoliant contains raw honey, colloidal silver, apple cider vinegar and coconut oil to provide antimicrobial, antiseptic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.

Full Ingredients: Purified Water, Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) oil *, Cetearyl Olivate, Raw Honey*, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil*, Sorbitan Olivate, Colloidal Silver, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Jojoba Beads, Vanilla Powder, Argan Shell Powder, Apple Cider Vinegar*, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer Diheptyl Succinate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, P-Anisic Acid, Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil. *Organic

This exfoliant smells like vanilla pudding! To use this, I very gently roll the product over my face, instead of scrubbing my skin raw. it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, and so smooth. This is a perfect accompaniment for the face cleanser. I usually prefer acid exfoliators over physical exfoliators but I have to say I love the creaminess and effectiveness of this one.
The only critique I have for this exfoliant is the packaging that the sample size is in. It is in a plastic squeeze container, but the plastic is literally too hard to squeeze so I have to unscrew the lid and shake the product out. I feel like a pump or squeezable bottle would be a better option. (UPDATE: Erica informed me that the trial size is now in different packaging. Yay!)

The Spot Stick

This spot treatment is designed to target annoying pimples, and reduce them in severity. It also works to balance the skin's natural sebum levels and provides antibacterial properties. Hemp and black seed oils are employed to nourish, heal and repair facial skin. Australian essential oils such as tea tree, rose myrtle, and fragonia are used for their powerful antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial properties.

Full Ingredients: Hemp Seed Oil*, Black Seed Oil* Essential Oils Of: Agonis Fragrans(Fragonia), Tea Tree*, Rose Myrtle, Frankincense Serrata* and Geranium*.*Organic

For me, the spot stick works in three ways. One, to draw the pimple to the surface. Two, to help break up the gunk inside the pimple and reduce it in size. And three, hydrate the skin to reduce scarring and encourage healing. I love the herbal scent of this and have to say that this is one of the only acne spot treatments that has worked for my skin. This is a holy grail product of mine and one that I have been reaching for daily. I prefer to roll the product onto my freshly washed fingertips, then apply to my acneic areas, to prevent introducing bacteria to the rollerball, but I am a germaphobe!

Deodorant Crème in Neroli and Vanilla

I have heard so many amazing reviews about this product, and I feel it is one of the most popular products in Erica's range. This deodorant is 100% natural and free of aluminium, which is an ingredient I personally try to avoid. This deodorant contains bicarb soda, which I know a few beauties have troubles with, but I personally have not experienced any irritation with sodium bicarbonate. It also contains amazing hydrating ingredients such as shea butter and coconut oil, which you can see below.

Full Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Shea)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*+, Arrowroot*+, Sodium Bicarbonate+, Natural Tocopherol, Vanilla Planifolia Extract in 3% Jojoba, Essential Oils Of: Neroli, Sweet Orange and Rosemary. +FoodGrade *Organic

This deodorant comes as a solid paste in a jar. As it is coming into Winter where I am, it is a hard balm that I have to dig out of the container, although when warmer weather comes I know it will be softer and much easier to get out. This deodorant is scented beautifully of neroli and vanilla, and it smells more like I am applying a botanical perfume to my armpits than a deodorant. I love it! I find this deodorant to last all day, with one reapplication before bed. That is amazing for a sweaty, stinky gal, and I am glad I can add this to my very small (but growing!) list of deodorants that work for me. I think I may have to try Erica Brooke's double strength deodorant next, just out of curiosity, to see how much more effective that is.

The Daily Dose Moisturiser

This moisturiser is a great all-rounder which can be worn either at day or night. It can be worn alone, under makeup and or sunscreen. This moisturiser will hydrate and heal your skin, and contains a plethora of nutrient rich plant extracts that your skin will love. It contains Kakadu plum extract; one of my all-time favourite skincare ingredients for its high antioxidant levels and vitamin C content (highest natural source of vitamin C on the planet!). It also contains amazing anti-ageing and cell energizer COQ10, potent scar healer Helichrysum and hydrating Sodium Hyaluronate, among others.

Full Ingredients: Purified Water, Camellia oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) oil *, Cetearyl Olivate, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil*, Sorbitan Olivate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Olive Squalane,  Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Vegetable Glycerine*,  Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil,  Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Glyceryl Caprylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Diheptyl Succinate ,  Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Natural Tocopherol (Vitamin E from sunflower oil)*, P-Anisic Acid, Ubiquinone (CO Enzyme Q10), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose Otto)* Essential Oil, Helichrysum Italicum (Helichrysum Europe) essential Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil*. *Organic

I have to start this off by mentioning the packaging. I adore the airless pump container, and the sleekness of the packaging. All of Erica's products are housed in packaging beautiful enough to display proudly in your bathroom. This moisturiser is so lush and is perfect for anyone with dry or mature skin. It is perfect for the weather in Australia at the moment, as we are heading into cooler weather, and I have noticed my skin even drier than usual. This moisturiser is densely hydrating, but not greasy in the slightest. If you are looking for a moisturiser that will protect your skin while feeding it amazing antioxidants from many different plant sources, this is the moisturiser for you.

Precious Face Oil

This delightful facial oil is suitable for all skin types. It contains a blend of carefully selected oils and herbs that provide the skin with antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients. They include CO enzyme Q10 which helps boost skin repair and regeneration, Vitamin E to fight free radicals, and Pomegranate seed oil which stimulates the cells of the outer layer of the skin, reviving tired dull skin. The base of this oil is macadamia oil, which is very similar to the consistency of the oil our skin naturally produces. It also features powerful skin healers and soothers, calendula and chamomile, high on the list.

Macadamia Integrifolia Oil* twice infused with Calendula officinalis (Calendula)*, Matricaria recutita (Chamomile)*, Plantago Major (Plantain), Echinacea Purpurer (Echinacea)*, Althea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root), Urtica Dioica (Nettle), Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Oil*, Olive Squalane, rubus idaeus (Red Raspberry) Oil*, Passiflora Edulis (Passion Fruit) Oil, Mauritia Flexuosa (Biriti) Oil, Punica granatum (Pomegranate) Oil, Natural Tocopherol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil*, Rosa Damascena (Rose Otto)* Essential Oil, Helichrysum Italicum (Helichrysum Europe) essential Oil, Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii), Ubiquinone (CO Enzyme Q10), Sandalwood (Santalum Spicatum), Daucus Carota (carrot seed) Oil. * Organic

This oil is a velvety, silky potion with absolutely no greasiness. It pairs perfectly with the Erica Brooke moisturiser, and I often find myself applying a few drops over the top of it. It has a beautiful orange colour and a light herbal, medicinal scent owing to the beautiful plant extracts it is packed with. I love the more unique ingredients it contains, including biriti, nettle, camellia and marshmallow root.

The Deep Cleanse Weekly Treatment Mask
This mask comes in a powder form in a delightful bottle. It is designed as a weekly treatment to draw out and eliminate toxins from the skin, while adding vitamins, minerals and nutrients. It contains ghassoul, zeolite and black clays to clear out pores and decongest problem skin. It contains vitamin C to brighten skin and increase collagen activity. It also contains several extracts new to me in skincare, including nettle leaf, ginseng and grapeseed extract, which deliver countless benefits to the skin.

Full Ingredients: Ghassoul Clay, Zeolite clay, Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao)*, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Australian Black Clay,  Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola)Extract, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) Flowers*, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf*, Acanthopanax Senticosus Root (Siberian Ginseng) Extract*, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Juice Powder (Seabuck Thorn),  Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed) Extract, Vanilla Powder*, Cinnamon*, Turmeric*, Black Pepper* *Organic.

This is such a beautiful mask. It actually reminds me a bit of May Lindstrom's The Problem Solver. As it is a powder, you are free to use what ever wet activating ingredient you wish. My favourites are water, honey or a bit of Erica Brooke's Honey Cream Cleanser. I apply to my skin straight after cleansing, and I leave on for up to twenty minutes or until it has dried. It removes easily, although a bit messy, as you can expect with any clay based mask. My skin definitely looks refreshed, cleared and calmer. It feels ultra smooth and is sometimes a little flushed pink from all of the actives increasing circulation in my skin. I love this mask so much!
