Review: Earthwise Beauty

As a natural skincare blogger, I get the opportunity to try a lot of different products. Earthwise Beauty products fit the bill for me - 100% beegan, raw, organic, non-GMO, cruelty-free, and they also deliver results! The products are low natural preservative, small-batch and as fresh as if I had whipped them up in my own kitchen. All ingredients are skin friendly, unprocessed, unrefined and uniquely formulated by Ava. Ava is the creator of Earthwise Beauty and is so friendly and helpful when it comes to deciding which products would best suit your skin.

This post is not simply a product review post, but also a peek at my current skincare routine. I was fortunate enough to be able to try products from Earthwise Beauty, and I fell so deeply in love that my day-to-day skincare routine is currently purely made from products of the line (apart from other products I test as a blogger). Below, I will explain why I am so enraptured by Earthwise Beauty products, and how I fit them into my routine.

Cleanse - Marshmallow Suds Organic Face Wash for Sensitive Skin
First, I should preface this by saying that I do not have sensitive skin. I have dry and acne-prone skin, and this cleanser works well for me, and I can see it working for all skin types. I apply one pump using my hands to a damp face, and it foams up like a dream; something I miss about conventional cleansers. This cleanser, however, is not drying to the skin. It also removes all of my makeup and my skin feels like it is getting a deep clean. It does contain coconut oil, but I do not find that it breaks me out, unlike other products with coconut oil in them.
Ingredients: herbal infusion {distilled water, Althaea officinalis (marshmallow) root*, Calendula officinalis petals*, Matricaria recutita (chamomile) buds*}, water, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*†, cold-press Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil*, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) esters*, Aloe barbadensis juice*, vegetable glycerin (from non-GMO soy)*, Olea europaea (olive) oil*†, potassium hydroxide (but none remains in final product, after saponifying oils into soap and glycerin), Cannabis sativa (hemp) oil*, natural preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, gluconolactone}, guar gum, glucono-lactone (from non-GMO corn), Melissa officinalis oil*, Matricaria recutita (German chamomile) oil*, organic Tanacetum annuum (Moroccan chamomile) oil, citric acid, tocopherol (vit. E). *Certified organic. †Certified Fair Trade.

Serum - Carrot- A- Day Anti-Ageing Organic Face and Eye Serum
This serum is ultra-light and can be used all over the face for incredible skin regenerating effects. It is literally packed with carrot seed oil; high in beta-carotene, making it suitable for all skin types, including acneic skin. It also contains lots of anti-inflammatory blue chamomile and helichrysum which work wonders on scarring, spots and reversing wrinkles. Aloe Vera and Spearmint also feature, offering cooling and depuffing qualities. I apply a few dots to my forehead, cheeks and chin, and marvel at the way it rapidly absorbs as I massage it in, leaving zero residue. I have noticed that my skin tone is now a lot more even, and a scar I have had for two years now between my eyebrows is now much less noticeable. I need a moisturiser after using this, as I have dry skin, but I think those with oily skin might find this is enough.
Ingredients: Aloe vera barbadensis leaf fillet*, Daucus carota seed oil*, natural non-GMO tocopherol (vit. E), Helichrysum italicum (Italian everlasting, Corsican) oil*, ECOCERT approved natural preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, glucono-lactone}, Marticaria recutita (German blue chamomile) oil*, carbomer, ascorbic acid (vit. C), Mentha spicata (spearmint) oil*. *Certified organic.

Moisturise - Green Leaves and Co. & Marigold Fields Moisturiser
I actually use both these products twice daily. I use the Marigold Fields Moisturiser all over my forehead, cheeks and nose, and the Green Leaves and Co. Facial Oil all over my chin and jawline, and anywhere I am experiencing a breakout.
The Marigold Fields Moisturiser is AMAZING. It is best suited to dry and extra dry skin types, and my acne-prone thirsty skin laps it up without causing breakouts. Unlike all other moisturisers designed for dry skin, this cream-gel format is super light and fast absorbing. However, it is one of the most hydrating products I have ever used. Marigold Fields contains incredible ingredients such as calendula petals double infused in extra-virgin olive oil, Roman Chamomile oil, jojoba oil and pracaxi oil sustainably sourced from the Amazon Jungle. The scent of this product is out of this world - a combination of passion fruit, pineapple, bananas, guava, chamomile flowers, with a touch of blue lotus. Yum!
Ingredients: Aloe vera barbadensis whole leaf fillet*, calendula officinalis (marigold) flowers* in Olea europaea oil*, cold-press unrefined virgin golden Simmondsia chinensis oil*, organic unrefined Pentaclethra macroloba (pracaxi) seed oil, organic unrefined Caryocar braziliensis (pequi) fruit oil, natural non-GMO alpha tocopherol (vit. E), natural ECOCERT approved (for use in certified organic cosmetics) preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, gluconolactone}, polysorbate 20, carbomer, ascorbic acid (vit. C), Anthemis nobilis (Roman chamomile) oil*, Cymbopogon flexuosus (lemongrass) oil*, wildcrafted Nymphaea caerulea (blue lotus) absolute.

To be honest, I was hesitant at first to try the Green Leaves and Co. Facial Oil, due to the coconut oil it contains. I always avoided coconut oil due to its reputation for being pore clogging and acne causing, until I learnt that the quality of the coconut oil affects how it acts with skin. Most skincare contains coconut oil which has been heated, changing its nature, and causing it to become pore clogging. Earthwise Beauty uses coconut oil that is unrefined and cold-pressed, and retains all the natural goodness in its original form. This is why the Green Leaves and Co. Facial Oil will change in consistency, from liquid to solid depending on temperature, as coconut oil solidifies below 24 degrees but is a liquid at temperature above this. Where I live (Tasmania, AUS), I will expect the oil to remain solid most days, which works fine for me as I love the ease of scooping what I need out. For those in warmer climates, Ava takes care of you with a brush applicator attached to the lid. Green Leaves and Co. heals and prevents acne with thyme, regenerates skin cells and reverses wrinkles with rosemary verbenone, regulates oil secretion with clementine leaf and coconut oil, and reverses signs of aging with the lavender and violet. It has a very fresh and clean scent, which I look forward to twice a day. It is green-tinted, noncomedogenic and fully absorbs into your skin, leaving no oily residue. I have noticed over the past few months using this oil, that my skin is a lot less congested around my chin area (my problem area). I have not experienced any breakouts with this oil, and it has renewed my trust and belief in plant oils like coconut.
Ingredients: Virgin cold-press unrefined Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*†, virgin cold-press unrefined Simmondsia chinensis (golden jojoba) oil*, Rosmarinus officinalis ct. verbenone (rosemary) oil*, Thymus vulgaris ct. linalool (thyme) oil*, Viola odorata leaves absolute*, wildcrafted Lavandula angustifolia (high-altitude French lavender, from Haute Provence) oil, Citrus clementine leaves oil* (from Corsica), Ocimum sanctum (holy basil) oil* (from India, of course), Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract.

Mask - Blackstrap Molasses Age Reversing & Frightening Green Anti-Acne
Each week I choose one of the above face masks, depending on my skin needs. If I am experiencing a breakout, I will reach for the Frightening Green Anti-Acne Mask, but if I want to tackle scarring and dullness I will bust the Blackstrap Molasses Age Reversing Mask out. I keep both masks, along with the face scrub (mentioned below) in the fridge to keep them fresh and make sure the ingredients remain potent.
The Blackstrap Molasses Age Reversing Mask contains mineral-rich, detoxifying Hungarian Moor Mud, and firming, pore-cleansing Moroccan lava clay, as well as unrefined blackstrap molasses which contain nourishing and skin softening nutrients such as vitamin b6, iron, magnesium and potassium. I love the inclusion of carrot seed oil and rosehip oil, which offer anti-wrinkle, anti-acne, anti-aging and brown-spot reducing properties. It smells sweet and delicious, likely due to the geranium and rosa absolute, and I enjoy slathering it onto my face of a night time and relaxing for a few minutes while I let it work its magic. This mask is great for stressed out skin like mine. It is calming and reduces any inflammation, and when I wash it off my skin looks so glowy and healthy. It is the perfect mask to use before an event, or to just treat yourself.
Blackstrap Molasses Ingredients: Maris limus (Hungarian Moor mud), Moroccan Rhassoul red lava clay, Kaolinite (kaolin clay), Saccharum officinarum (unsulphured blackstrap molasses from Paraguay)*†, Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) distillate* (14% alcohol; double distilled), cold-press unrefined Rosa canina (rosehip) oil*, L-ascorbic acid (active vit. C), natural ECOCERT-approved (for use in certified organic cosmetics) preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, gluconolactone}, unrefined Daucus carota (carrot) seed oil*, Pelargonium graveolens (geranium) oil*, Rosa centifolia absolute*.

The Frightening Green Anti-Acne Mask is the more powerful cousin of Blackstrap Molasses Mask, when it comes to treating acne. When my skin is flaring up, I like to grab this straight from the fridge and smooth it onto my reddened skin, enjoying the cooling sensation and the herbal scent (I really notice rosemary and eucalyptus in this blend). This mask reduces my acne, cleans my pores, and smooths my skin, due to fabulous anti-acne ingredients such as green clay, witch hazel, raw honey, rosemary, and thyme. This mask is best applied to damp, clean skin and left for around 20 minutes. I use warm water to remove it, and it rinses off easily. Those with dry skin should follow with a hydrating moisturiser.
Frightening Green Anti-Acne Ingredients: Montmorillonite (French green clay), Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) distillate* (14% alcohol), raw honey*, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf* and oil*, Thymus vulgaris leaf*, Laminaria digitata (kelp), potassium sorbate (natural preservative), water, alcohol, Passiflora quadrangularis (passionfruit) extract, Citrus medica limonum (lemon) extract, Ananas sativus (pineapple) extract, Vitis vinifera (white grape) extract, Eucalyptus dives oil, Juniperus communis (juniper) berry oil*.

Exfoliate - Pumpkin and Papaya Seed Face Scrub
This was actually the first product that I tried from Earthwise Beauty, and the product that got me wanting to try more! This face scrub contains good-for-the-skin ingredients such as Pumpkin Seed, Raw Honey, Rhassoul Clay, Papaya Seed and Witch Hazel. I keep it in the fridge alongside my face masks, to preserve its freshness, but also find it adds to the sensory experience; adding a cooling touch. This product is best applied by scooping a small amount and applying to a wet face so the scrub particles stick on. I then massage in circular motions all over my face, concentrating on areas where I have dry spots, then leave on for a few minutes as a mask. I use it once a week and find every time I use it I am left with glowing skin, and my pores look super clean. It also smells like fresh clementines too - so delicious!
Ingredients: raw Cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed*, Rhassoul lava clayΦ, raw unfiltered guaranteed humanely gathered honey*, Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) distillate (14% alcohol)*, Hawaiian small-farm Carica papaya seed, cold-press unrefined Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil*, veg. glycerin*, non-GMO tocopherol (vit. E), natural preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Loncera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, glucono-lactone}, Citrus reticulata (tangerine) oil*, Citrus paradisii (grapefruit) oil*, Citrus clementine (clementine petitgrain) oil*, Anthemis nobilis (chamomile) oil*. *Certified organic.

I wanted to share with you some photos I took when I first began using Earthwise Beauty products. I feel they are a testament to the quality of the products and the results you can achieve.

(From top to bottom: day 1, 2, 3 and 4 of using the Carrot A Day Serum, Marigold Fields Moisturiser and Green Leaves and Co. Facial Oil. I know the lighting isn't exactly the same in all pictures, but hopefully you can see the vast difference that I noticed in such a short time!)
