Review: Happy Skincare Natural Deodorant Paste

I have a bit of a gripe with natural deodorants. They just don't seem to work as well as aluminium ones for me. I have accepted the fact that they don't block sweat (they aren't meant to), but darn it, they need to keep me fresh all day. I have tried so many, and today I am sharing one that is working for me so far (fingers crossed!)

Meet Happy Skincare's Deodorant Paste. This is so new that the full-size hasn't even hit the market yet. I happily accepted a sample to try of this paste, and share my honest thoughts with you guys. The sample was enough to last several weeks for me, so long enough for my body to really put it to it's paces. For this review, keep in mind that I have a health condition which messes with my body and causes, amongst other things, excessive sweating, so I am an extreme example of someone who simply must have an effective deodorant.

First, the ingredients list. This deodorant contains everything I have researched to be effective in natural deodorant. Sodium Bicarbonate, Tapioca, Kaolin Clay and Zinc Oxide are the biggest fighters against odour and wetness, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Candelilla Wax prevent irritation and hydrate the skin, and essential oils such as Orange Peel, Palmarosa, Cedarwood and more lend to the beautiful scent and further protect against odour. All ingredients are natural and vegan, and 51% are organic.

Full Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Manihot Esculenta (Tapioca) Root Starch, Sodium Bicarbonate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Kaolin Clay, Isoamyl Laurate, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla) Wax, Triethyl Citrate, Zinc Oxide, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil,  Cedrus Atlantica Wood (Cedarwood Atlas) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Cymbopogon Martini (Palmarosa) Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Oil and Vanilla planifolia (Vanilla) Extract

To apply, I scoop about a pea-sized amount for each armpit out with my fingers, and then rub it into each one. This paste doesn't irritate my armpits at all, and doesn't feel abrasive as other deodorants containing baking soda have felt in the past. As far as effectiveness, I find I need to reapply early evening/before bed, and that works for me.

I highly recommend trying this deodorant out. A sample (18 grams) is plenty enough to know if the product works for you, and you can grab one for $6.60 here.
