Review: Earthwise Beauty Magical Babassu Facial Oil & Basic Face Moisturiser

I have been enjoying two new-to-me creations by Ava (creator of Earthwise Beauty); a recently released facial oil called Magical Babassu, and a long standing moisturiser in her range, for over two months now, so I thought I should share my thoughts with you guys.

Magical Babassu. is. amazing. Truly. I swear it gives the softest skin I have ever experienced. Use an exfoliator and then apply this beauty and your skin smoothness will rival that of a babies' bottom. Seriously. The texture of this facial oil is unlike anything else I have tried. Although a tad runnier at the moment due to the weather here, if I had to describe it I would say that it feels like a very light butter, but with no shininess or greasiness. It almost resembles a thick serum with an oil base. Those familiar to Ava's other facial oil offering's may have found that as amazing as they were, they didn't quite offer enough moisture on their own if you have really dry skin. This oil is the one you need in your arsenal if you suffer from dry patches or rough skin. Although it is intensely hydrating, it is suitable for all skin types, including acneic skin.
The key ingredient in this facial oil is of course cold-pressed, unrefined Babassu oil from Brazil. Babassu oil heals and soothes, relieves itching and discomfort, has antibacterial properties, is cooling, depuffing, and minimises pores. Magical Babassu is also high in Brazil nut oil, which is rich in linoleic acid, vitamins E, A, B & C, and selenium. Sacha inchi oil is the fourth ingredient listed, and is revered for it's high omega 3 content, and hydration and wrinkle reducing properties. Pracaxi oil is an oil I am not very familiar with, so I was excited to find out it has the capability to regenerate scar tissue, and also is anti-acne.
Magical Babassu has an comforting earthy/nutty scent owing to the babassu oil, which I look forward to smelling each time I apply. If you want silky, velveteen skin, I recommend trying this oil out.
Ingredients: organic cold press unrefined Attalea speciosa (babassu) seed oil (Brazil), organic cold press unrefined Bertholletia excels (Brazil) nut oil, wildcrafted cold press unrefined Butyrospermum parkii (shea) fruit butter† (West Africa), organic cold press unrefined Plukenetia volubilis (sacha inchi) seed oil (Chile), organic cold press unrefined Pentaclethra macroloba (pracaxi) pod oil (Brazil), tocopherol (non-GMO vit. E, from sunflowers), organic virgin cold press unrefined Simmondsia chinensis (golden jojoba) seed oil†, wildcrafted Nelumbo nucifera pink lotus flower absolute (India), wildcrafted Acacia decurrens var. dealbata (mimosa) flower absolute (France), Vetiveria zizanioides vetiver roots absolute (Haiti)†, ethically farmed Nicotiana tabacum tobacco leaf absolute (nicotine free, hexane free, Belgium).

Next is the Amazing Basic Moisturiser. To be honest, I'm not sure I would have tried this moisturiser if I hadn't been sent it, as I usually tend to go for moisturisers with more exotic sounding ingredients. But boy, am I glad I did.
This beautiful moisturiser comes as a gel-cream format and is suitable for all skin types, including those prone to breakouts. It absorbs so quickly into the skin, and doesn't leave that heavy, cloying feeling that hydrating moisturisers are known for. I love that this cream has virtually no scent, which makes it work for those with sensitive skin, and even the men in your life (I'm talking to you, ROSE scented moisturisers haha!). This moisturiser doesn't contain some of the rarer ingredients of Ava's other creations, but don't be mistaken into thinking that this cream doesn't have powerful skin healing properties. The base of this product is organic whole-leaf aloe gel, which is amazing for skin hydrating and soothing irritation. Olive and jojoba are two well-known skin loving oils that nourish deeply without causing breakouts. Honey is also added (one of my favourite skincare ingredients!), which is known for it's anti-acne, antibacterial, clarifying and nourishing effect on the skin. Add to the mix non-GMO vitamin E and you have the perfect skin drink.
I find this moisturiser to be the perfect product to pop over the top of a serum with more active ingredients. Saying that, if you like to keep things simple, this could be perfect for you used alone.
Ingredients: Aloe vera barbadensis leaf fillet*, extra-virgin cold-press unrefined unfiltered Sicilian Olea europaea (olive) oil*, virgin cold-press unrefined golden Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, raw cruelty-free unfiltered honey*, natural non-GMO tocopherol (vit. E), natural ECOCERT preservative {glycerin, Leuconostoc (radish root) ferment filtrate, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) extract, Populus tremuloides bark extract, gluconolactone}, natural emulsifier {sorbitan laurate, polyglyceryl-4 laurate, dilauryl citrate}, carbomer, ascorbic acid (vit. C), Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) oil*, Coriandum sativum (cilantro) oil*.
